Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson delivered a breakthrough performance at the 50th Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, dominating the men’s 100m with a blazing world-leading time of 9.85 seconds (+0.4 m/s). Racing at Hayward Field, Thompson’s explosive start and fluid acceleration propelled him past an elite field, matching his personal best and firmly staking his claim as one of the world’s top sprinters.

Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain finished second in 9.91 seconds, with American Trayvon Bromell close behind in 9.94. Brandon Hicklin (9.98) and fellow Jamaican Akeem Blake (10.03) rounded out the top five. Thompson’s statement win not only earned valuable Diamond League points but also signaled his arrival as a serious medal threat for the upcoming global championships.
