Hydel and Excelsior High shone in boys and girls Penn Relays Championship of America 4x100m races.
The 128th Penn Relays in 2024 were marked by the thrilling Championship of America finals for both the boys’ and girls’ High School 4x100m relay events. Hydel High from Jamaica seized victory in the girls’ division on Friday, April 26th, clocking in at 44.71 seconds. Close behind were fellow Jamaican schools Edwin Allen High and St Jago High, finishing at 44.96 seconds and 45.14 seconds respectively. Archbishop Carroll from Washington DC secured 4th place with a time of 45.15 seconds.
In the boys’ 4x100m relay, Jamaican schools dominated the top positions, mirroring the success of their female counterparts. Excelsior High claimed the top spot with an impressive time of 40.45 seconds, followed closely by Kingston College in 2nd place with 40.53 seconds, and Herbert Morrison in 3rd place with 40.56 seconds. Archbishop Carroll from Washington DC, akin to their female team, finished 4th with a time of 40.68 seconds.
